Now – A Living Map All About Discovering

Now is a free iPhone app that lets you see what is hot and happening in your city based on crowd sourced photos. It’s a public platform where users can stand as city journalists and share their best experiences happening in their city and see how popular they are.

An Alternative to Foursquare?!

Almost like Foursquare, Now is a GPS generated application that uses current locations and shares them on a social platform. Now gathers the city’s best experiences in the most objective manner: Where people are right now and show their enthusiasm through photo sharing. Think of it as a free live city guide: most discovery apps focus on venues and show old and out-dated tips. Now shows you places through the experiences happening there.

Discover Your Surroundings With the Click of a Button

Week after week you hit the same burger joint. It gets very boring very quickly. Why not try new spots that could pleasantly surprise you? It’s fun to explore your surroundings and try new things. Open Now app and explore the best flea markets, concerts, food experiences, parties, outdoor movie spots… where others are having a good time. The app was launched in May 2012 with 4 cities (New York, San Francisco, Paris and London). Los Angeles was added in July 2012. In November, it opened the platform to the World. It’s great to keep up with your best friends to see what they’re up to in real time. Anytime a friend is nearby, you automatically receive a notification.

Instagram, Facebook, Now?!

With Now, users integrate their Instagram and facebook accounts to enhance the experience. Once accounts are synced, Now gathers all info about your friends on both social platforms and puts them into the app. Now locates where you are and shows you where your friends are and their recent activity. With Now you can stay up to date with those most important to you. Although not necessary to sync Facebook and Instagram accounts since you can you just see ‘public’ activity meaning posts made by people you don’t know, syncing accounts definitely adds to the overall experience. Very much like Foursquare, Now thrives on the famous saying “location, location, location!”. But unlike Foursquare, Now beautifully infuses photos and comments right into the feed, and I must add this with a doubt puts Now ahead of Foursquare. Not only is Now aesthetically stunning, but the app is absolutely seamless and smooth. All I can say is that I hope more people use this amazing app so that my feed can be overflowing! Stop using the boring and bland Foursquare and make the switch over to the new and beautiful Now! Check it out here!
