Barinly.com is a social learning platform that provides tools for mutual help with school subjects.
Brainly is an online community that connects students that need help solving homework problems in subjects such as English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Business, History, Health, and several subjects in the sciences. There is also a platform to have questions answered in language subjects, with Spanish, French and German being the most popular subjects. Brainly operates on a sort of karmic principle — in order to receive help from others online, you have to provide some sort of help yourself. The site makes it easy to do both, as users can quickly type a homework-related question into a box that’s instantly submitted to the community at large. The site estimates that 80% of questions are answered within 10 minutes, simply due to the large network of individuals using the site at any given time.
The site also clearly displays how many users are online and engaging in a particular subject. If you need help in Mathematics, for instance, you can see how many users are on that section of the site. There is incentive to help other users through Brainly‘s gamification elements, as users are awarded points for carrying out various tasks. Users are awarded points for answering questions, and are given bonus points if their response is deemed best by those who asked. The site also ranks the highest users in each particular section. The site is useful for students that may excel in a particular subject but struggle in another — providing an even playing field where positive feedback and mutual help is encouraged. The design is also intuitive, making it easy for users around the world to connect with each other for the purpose of shared knowledge.
