Wonder.fm: Discover The Best Music In The World Right Now

Wonder.fm is a music discovery service showcasing the best new music from around the world.

Endless Music Discovery

By name alone, Wonder.fm sounds like another online radio station. The service it offers, however, is much different. Its focus is on music discovery, and it was created by Stephen Phillips, a familiar face in that space. Phillips was one of the co-founders of We Are Hunted, the streaming service that was ultimately acquired by Twitter and shut down soon thereafter. The site utilizes a simple layout, as the homepage consists of artist photographs along with the artist and track name(s). Users can get music playing by clicking on one of the photographs, which begins a steady stream of tracks. Unless, of course, users want to jump around and create their own playlist of songs.

The Best in Electronic, Hip-hop and Alternative

Wonder.fm’s focus is also on underground or undiscovered artists, a unique break the more mainstream streaming services. The songs are sourced from Soundcloud, which typically allows for quicker loading times and a less cluttered experience. Recognizable names like Cold War Kids and Child Gambino are also dispersed amongst the lesser-known artists, but most of the bands, DJs and artists on the site offer a quality form of music. The playlists can also be filtered by genre, with electronic, hip-hop and alternative as the primary options. If you click on an artist that you like, a new playlist is created based on that musician’s style. After using the site for just a few minutes, I discovered tons of great new music and artists that I’ll definitely be checking out in more detail elsewhere.
