Mixtrss sources the best DJ mixes from SoundCloud and presents them in a way that makes it easy for fans to discover new music.
Mixtrss is the work of a generous music fan and web developer. The site was built by New York-based developer Jonathan Kupferman as a way to share DJ mixes with visitors from around the world. The site is not necessarily a music blog, as no text accompanies the embedded links to mixes. It’s simply a platform that allows Kupferman to share the mixes he’s discovered on Soundcloud via a visually appealing platform. The site’s design is extremely simple and therefore incredibly easy to navigate, as it consists of embedded Soundcloud widgets featuring music from DJs such as Krewella and Robin Schulz.
Kupferman also seeks out some lesser known DJs in order to help visitors discover music that they might not have heard before. As the site designer claims on his about page, “there is something about a DJ putting together a mix that can change the way you experience music forever. These mixes are on the web, but no one knows they exist.” Mixtrss seeks to make more users aware of the mixes, and there are also social media buttons installed on the site’s homepage in order to make sharing certain mixes with other individuals equally as easy. In terms of the actual music hosted on the site, it’s almost entirely focused on EDM, although there are multiple sections that filter mixes by genre. There are categories on Mixtrss for Bass, Dance, Deep, Drum & bass, Dubstep, Electro, House, Mashup, Techno, Trance, and Trap. The mixes also vary in length, although most of them are around either the 30 min or 1 hour mark.
