Doneliner contains a massive, searchable library of popular quotes from various films, with the ability to listen to clips from the movie.
Doneliner is the ultimate search engine for movie quotes. If you’ve ever had a quote stuck in your head but can’t remember where it’s from, heard someone else quote a movie and want to look up where it came from, or just want to scroll through quotes from some of your favorite movies, Doneliner is the site for you. The site, however, doesn’t simply display quotes. That’s something you can find using IMDB. Instead, Doneliner allows you to play back the exact quote that you’re looking for. All you have to do is type a movie or a line from a movie into the search bar, and results will quickly be filtered. I typed in Happy Gilmore and quickly found the “you’re in my world now grandma” quote and played it back. It’s fairly amazing how the creators of the site have the movie quotes synced up at exactly the right time, but it’s definitely fun to play around with.
According to Doneliner’s homepage, the creators of the site have already have 22,000 transcribed clips hosted on the site, and they plan to continue adding more. If you’re using Doneliner and you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for, you can also hit the “Play random line” button, which does exactly what it says. A random line from a random film plays. After you listen to a quote, sharing it via Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus is extremely easy. There’s also the option to stream the movie, and Doneliner has linked every quote to its corresponding Amazon Instant Video page. There isn’t much of a design on Doneliner, and the site is somewhat limited by the fact that you have to search for a line or hear a random one rather than having the ability to browse, but overall it’s incredibly fun to use. As the quote from Highlander goes, “You have power beyond imagination. Use it well, my friend. Don’t lose your head!”
