Game About Squares is an HTML5 puzzle game that’s easy to learn and can be beaten in a few hours (although I only made it to level 11 before I got frustrated).
A Game that Really Is About Squares
Game About Squares is a puzzle game that can be played entirely within your browser. It was designed by Andrey Shevchuk using HTML5. The game play begins before users are even really aware what’s going on, allowing for an interactive way to learn how to play rather than a straightforward tutorial. It’s a little confusing at first, but there are helpful hints describing how the game works in between levels that provide for more clarity. The game is essentially about solving puzzles, and the first experience of solving the puzzle that is the gameplay only adds to the game’s best qualities. Most of the hints, of course, are just humorous reminders that the game is about squares.
A Game About Circles, Too…
As the hints and the name of the game itself suggests, the game really is about squares. The main objective is to click on squares of various colors in order to move them along a path (each square also has an arrow indicating the direction it moves once you click on it). The game is also about circles, as you’re supposed to move the squares until they cover a circle that corresponds with the color of the square. The game gets increasingly difficult as you have to push squares together to alter their paths to finish the levels. There’s also a reset button that makes it easy to start over if you make a mistake. This description probably sounds confusing, which is why it’s probably best to learn by doing the way Shevchuk intended. Just remember it’s a game about squares, and a fun one indeed.
