Elephants Are Being Targeted

They are big and brilliant animals, but the reality is, elephant tusks can fetch high prices on the black market. For this reason, poachers have been targeting elephants and selling their ivory to uninformed buyers worldwide. The Nature Conservancy has taken upon itself several measures to limit this devastating trend. Wildlife Rangers are being given new technology to help track and deter poachers. Additionally, The Nature Conservancy has been in touch with influential leaders in China (where most of the illegal ivory is being sold) to educate their people about the origins of the ivory and why elephant poaching is becoming a crisis that must end. These tactics, amongst others, are designed to help save elephants so that they can roam the African wild for the coming centuries.
