A Concierge in Your Pocket
Sosh is the digital equivalent of a concierge. The site gives you personalized recommendations for events, activities and places to visit wherever you may be. Well, at least if you are in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle or Washington D.C. Those are the only cities in which Sosh is currently offered, although the company has plans to expand to Boston and L.A. soon. The limited amount of cities is actually a good thing for those using the site or its accompanying app, as it allows for more specific recommendations in those cities. Sosh curates every recommendation and tailors them to your interests, so the more you interact with the app the better it becomes. Recommendations range from “Waffles & Whisky Happy Hour” at a bar to the “natural wonder” of Alamere Falls in California.
Find Cool, Strange, Exciting Stuff to Do
It’s free to become a member and start using Sosh, and afterwards you’re introduced to a large amount of strange but great activities and places to visit in your city. The site also works with tastemakers and celebrities who personally curate their own lists of their favorite things. Co-founder of Instagram Mike Krieger, for instance, has his favorite “picturesque spots in SF” listed on Sosh. Other tastemakers include chefs and business owners. The app is especially useful for finding a restaurant with exactly the type of cuisine you’re looking for, and it goes beyond apps like Yelp by allowing users to make reservations, get directions and insider tips all in the same place. Since Sosh is a curated app, you can expect to spend much less time filtering through unnecessary places or activities. It’s a simplistically designed app with complex capabilities, definitely worth checking out if you’re ever in one of the cities in which the service is offered.
