So JK Rowling really does love us! Pottermore is a new, online fix for all us Harry Potter addicts out there: a unique, online experience that brings a whole new perspective to the Harry Potter books…

Enter J.K. Rowling’s wonderful, magical world…

Pottermore isn’t a new Harry Potter book (we can only dream), but J.K. Rowling has shown us that she’s at least still thinking of her fans. Pottermore is a little (but potentially massive) place online to explore more of Harry Potter’s magical world than you ever could before, and yes, there will be exclusive, new content by J.K. Rowling hidden in there somewhere…

A good (and uncynical) way to think of Pottermore, is to describe it as something of a thank you by J.K. Rowling to her millions of Harry Potter fans, and to bring the stories to a new, digital generation.

Based around the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling has helped design the site, and has written some of thethe Harry Potter Collectionary key Pottermore features. J.K. has also written new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved stories.

Have you practiced magic before?

The Pottermore experience takes you beyond just reading the book, it enables you to experience it first hand; you take gold from Gringotts bank, shop at Diagon Alley for supply, ride the the Hogwarts express to the most famous wizardly school and face the sorting hat for a house selection.

As you continue escorting Harry on his journey you are involved in several of his adventures through an interactive interface, beautifully designed by J.K. Rowling and her partner – no other then the mighty Sony.

Make sure you have spare time before entering…

Pottermore is an interactive story-telling experience, users are inspired to believe that anything they can imagine, they can make real. Sony’s association with J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore brings together a powerhouse in special effects and innovation with the powerhouse in children’s literature in a pioneering partnership that will help shape the future of story-telling.

Pottermore is still on Beta so for now it is only based on the storyline from ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’. According to the Pottermore team, the storylines from the other books in the series will be added in the future along with some new features and functionality as well.

So as the newest member of house Gryffindor, I invite you, without further ado, to J.K. Rowling’s new, rather inspired Harry Potter website!
