The Bully Project: A Social Action Campaign Powered By The Film ‘Bully’

The Bully Project is a website dedicated to furthering the anti-bullying causes outlined in the 2011 documentary film Bully.

Join the Cause.

The Bully Project seeks to change the culture in American schools to prevent bullying and other forms of abuse by developing a community of supportive individuals dedicated to those causes. Teachers, parents, school board members and students are encouraged to join the movement in order to remain dedicated to anti-bullying causes. Joining the cause is as easy as entering your email, as well as any other information you’d like to share. The site takes a unique approach to its charitable causes by building an online digital community amongst those that have joined. Every time a user accomplishes something within the site, such as donating time or money, posting videos or sharing stories on social media, they earn badges that represent their accomplishments. These badges are used to encourage other users to continue progressing in their own involvement with the Bully Project. The organization believes that bullying can only be stopped if the entire community communicates and works together to achieve that goal.

Don’t just Watch. Get Involved!

The digital home of the Bully Project also includes several useful tools and resources for educators, students and parents alike. It includes a comprehensive definition of bullying, as well as several testimonials from witnesses and victims of bullying. For students, the site has suggestions for how they can deal with bullying, as well as the ability to receive immediate support from The Bully Project’s partner 121 Help.me. The site also has several books and DVDs regarding how to start a local Bully Project in your own community. While many documentaries that highlight social issues raise concerns about various issues immediately after the release, the filmmakers behind ‘Bully’ are taking a step in the right direction by continuing their efforts to curb bullying throughout the country. The Bully Project is a fantastic resource for all those concerned or affecting by bullying.
