Learn How to Code or Brush Up on Your Skills
There are many sites that offer individuals of all experience levels the opportunity to learn how to code (or to improve their skills). CodeAvengers is one of those sites, and it offers more than 100 hours of instruction in a variety of languages. The site attempts to differentiate itself from other coding instruction sites in a few ways. It contains organized lessons, designed to be worked through in a specific order. The courses are designed to take only 12 hours, giving a sense of progress upon each successful completion. There’s also an element of gamification that encourages users to continue learning in order to earn certain badges and achievements.
Build Websites, Apps and Games
The most attractive part of CodeAvengers is the fact that it gets students building things from the start. There are three options for beginners getting started, and each has a goal that can be reached upon completion of the course: “Build A Web Page with HTML & CSS,” “Build an App with JavaScript,” or “Build a Game” with JavaScript. The first lesson in each of these courses is also available for preview. Even for someone like me with no JavaScript experience, working through a lesson and building a functional game was a great learning experience. The actual interface for the lessons is similar to CodeAcademy, although there’s a bit more advice and instruction along the way. Although there are similar free options out there, CodeAvenger’s prices aren’t terrible. The HTML5 + CSS courses are $29 each, with the JavaScript courses available for $10 more. With so many opportunities to learn how to code online, CodeAvengers is worthy of at least testing in order to see if their method of instruction is right for you.
