Admitted.ly takes a fresh and innovative approach to college advising. Students usually need to know exactly what they’re looking for in a college: a strong Greek life, a large Christian community, or perhaps something located in a big city. Admitted.ly tailors their recommendations based on personality quizzes, extracurricular activities, and goals. Most students only start to think about college during their last year of high school, when it’s far too late to do anything to improve their chances of getting into their dream school. The goal is to follow students all the way through high school and advise them early on as to which steps need to be taken to increase their chances.

Narrowing Down the Options

The process of applying for college is stressful. There is a laundry list of things to worry about and the first step is choosing where to apply. Admitted.ly matches students with colleges based primarily on personality and interests. For example, I might not love a school that heavily values football culture since I have no clue how many points are in a goal, or touchdown, or whatever they’re called. Admitted.ly’s quiz recognizes this and adjusts their recommendations accordingly. The site even ranks the schools by reach, target, and safer so students have realistic expectations for acceptance odds. You are also given an “Admitted.ly Score”, but I don’t know what this means. I’m assuming a higher number is better but it’s not clear what the number represents. Other than that, Admitted.ly has the potential to completely transform the application process. By focusing on personality, they help students discover schools they would have never considered, but are a perfect match for them.
