WordPress vs. Wix, Which is Better?

WordPress or Wixwordpressvswix? Find out which is better for you.

Which Should You Choose?

This blog will compare and contrast two of the top free website creators: WordPress and Wix. It will discuss their features and how user friendly the programs are, giving them a rating out of 5 stars. After reading this blog you will know which one is right for you, and which we like better.

First Let’s Start with Design…

In the design category, we are comparing two very different creatures. WordPress is much more to the point, clearly designed with one intention in mind — to create a webpage. Wix, on the other hand, looks more like an Adobe application such as Photoshop, with little icons on the left-hand side. I prefer the Wix layout because it looks much neater, with just five icons floating on the left-hand side compared to the overwhelming look of WordPress’s 12 options. For this reason, I give WordPress a 3/5 rating, and Wix a 4/5 rating.

Ease of Use

For my assessment of ease of use, I have a clear cut winner. Wix, a program I had never used before, proved to be much easier than WordPress, a program I have had much experience with. Wix is a much more intuitive program, making it easier to pick up and master. I was able to create a website without having any prior experience or guidance with this program. WordPress, on the other hand, takes much longer to master. If you have no prior experience using either of these programs, I highly recommend that you use Wix for your next project.  I am giving WordPress a 2/5 and Wix a 4.5/5 for ease of use.

….And now for our third and final competition, aesthetics.

Aesthetics

When it comes to aesthetics, both players boast a plethora of stunning, pre-laid out themes for you to personalize and create your very own website. Because I love almost all of the templates given by both competitors, I couldn’t choose a winner. For that reason, I have given both parties a 5/5 rating.  Below are some of my favorite templates offered by each service.

WordPress Templates:

Although the behind-the-scenes action is very different for these two competitors, the final products are very similar. Both have a clean, modern, and professional look when completed and published. Take a look below at some examples.

#2. Hemingway

Here are the Results After our Three Competitions.

WordPress: Design 3/5, Ease of Use 2/5, Aesthetics 5/5 = D or 66%

Wix: Design 4/5, Ease of Use, 4.5/5, Aesthetics 5/5 = A- or 90%

Although Wix appears to have beaten WordPress dramatically, both applications are still incredible tools for creating a website. Both are also far better than their closest competitors. If you are willing to put the time and effort in to learn, WordPress can be almost as good as Wix. But for that reason, Wix has the upper hand in this duel.

Winner: Wix
