Every Mother Counts is a campaign that seeks to end the preventable deaths that occur around the world as a result of pregnancy or childbirth. The organization’s primary goal is to raise awareness about the 287,000 women that die each year as a result of childbirth or pregnancy complications. The organization emphasizes that 90% of these deaths are preventable, and claims that access to transportation, education and supplies would help start to solve the issue. There are several resources on the site with useful information about childbirth and pregnancy complications as well as resources as to how individuals can get involved to help.
Shop for a cause.The organization partners with various companies in order to sell products that help fund its mission. Every Mother Counts offers all of its products for sale on the site, and items include art as well as clothing and accessories. Thus far, the organization has raised over $2 million, which has been directed to various programs and initiatives that further its cause. Every Mother Counts also holds various events like charity runs and walks, and information about how to participate can be found on the site. There are also other opportunities to get involved by volunteering or by hosting a screening of No Woman No Cry, the documentary created by maternal health advocate, model and Every Mother Counts founder Christy Turlington Burns.
